Baked Asparagus with Cheese

Baked asparagus is a great appetizer or snack. It is very easy to make.

Take out your frozen phyllo dough 30 minutes before using. Prepare the asparagus by blanching it in boiling water and submerge in ice water. Dry the asparagus with paper towel.

Finally, I use smoked gouda cheese and bacon as the topping but you can use any cheese and garnish that you like.

  • 1 frozen phyllo dough
  • bunch asparagus (around 25-30 stalks)
  • 1 cup gouda cheese
  • 1 egg white + 1 tsp (eggwash)
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Wash asparagus. Blanch in hot water, then put in ice water to stop the cooking. Set aside.

  2. Lay flat the phyllo dough and brush with butter.

  3. Line the asparagus on top of the phyllo dough.

  4. Spread the shredded cheese and bacon.

  5. Brush the sides with egg wash.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the sides are brown.
