How to Rehydrate Ube Powder (Powdered Purple Yam)?

Ube flavored foods have been trending for quite sometime in the Philippines. I'm not an ube fan before because I only remember getting it from Good Shepherd whenever we go to Baguio.

Ube Halaya (Purple Yam Jam) has a very simple recipe but the process of making it takes time and takes a lot of physical stamina because you need to continuously stir the ube.

As a replacement to the real ube, you can use ube powder. I'm using the Giron Foods Powdered Purple Yam (115 grams). According to the packet, for every 115 grams of ube powder, you need 4 cups of water. This means for one tablespoon (14 grams) of ube powder, you will add a 1/2 cup of water.

Directions:

In a saucepan, add 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of powdered ube. Simmer until rehydrated or until it thickens.

1/2 cup of Ube
