Banana Cue

Back in Manila, I always buy banana cue from the street vendor when visiting my lola/grandmother. The vendor is always at the street corner where she sells banana cue, kamote cue and turon.

Banana cue is simply fried bananas coated with brown sugar. Saba banana is often used in cooking this delicious snack. Since this banana variety can only be found in the Philippines, I used banana plantain instead.

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan.

  2. Once the oil is hot, drop the bananas in the frying pan.

  3. When the bananas turn brown, add the brown sugar.

  4. Once the brown sugar melts, continuously turn the bananas.

  5. When the bananas are fully coated with sugar, thread them on the sticks. Enjoy.
