Strawberry Jam with Pectin

I was recently taking an inventory of what I have in my freezer when I saw the frozen strawberry I bought last month. The first thing that popped into my head was to make a jam with it. Last year I also had frozen blueberries given to me by my friend, which I made into jam as well.

This time I used pectin crystals. Pectin can shorten the time when cooking jam. The first thing to do is to sterilize the jars and lids by placing them in boiling water or in an oven for 10 minutes at 225F.

Strawberry Jam

Strawberry jam is great as a spread in breads as well as the main ingredient in cheesecakes, cookies and even drinks like smoothies.

You can also give them as gifts especially during Christmas.

INGREDIENTS:

600 grams frozen strawberries

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 pack fruit pectin

4 cups granulated sugar

STEPS:

In a large saucepan, mix strawberry, lemon juice and pectin crystals.

Bring to a boil on high heat.

Stir in sugar.

Return to boil; cook in 1 minute.

Pour into warm sterilized jars.
