Where to buy Lechon or Roasted Pig in Vancouver
Lechon or Litson is roasted pig that is often prepared for special occasions. In the Philippines, it is tradition to order this scrumptious delicacy for birthday parties and fiestas. It's especially popular during Christmas and New Year's Eve. The main reason people save lechon for significant events is its expensive price tag. It costs so much because of the time-consuming preparation and cooking of the pig.
When you say lechon, the first thing that comes to mind is the taste of its crispy skin and juicy, tasty meat. If you live in Metro Manila, the best place to buy it is La Loma. When you're in the south (i.e Cebu), you won't be able to leave the city without trying their famous lechon, which is sold even at the airport.
When we moved to Canada, we looked for places to buy it. There is Manila BBQ (http://manilabbq.ca/) in New Westminster where they sell a whole lechon for $245. You also have the option to buy one half of it; however, the store needs to have a buyer for the other half before your order can be confirmed.
The second place to order is BBQ King Delight in Surrey. The whole roasted pig costs $210, plus $15 for cutting. Unlike Manila BBQ, you can buy a half roasted pig for $120 anytime.
I was informed in the comment section about another place in Vancouver where you can buy lechon. It is called Kuy's Lechon, (https://kuyslechon.com/) and is located in W. 71st Ave., Vancouver. From the feedback I've gotten, it is crispy and delicious! I hope to try it soon and experience their take on the popular dish during the holidays.
