Toasted Coconut

Filipino desserts often use toasted coconut as a topping. We use it in maja blanca (coconut pudding with corn), biko (sticky rice), puto bumbong (purple rice cake) among others.

The toasted coconut enhances the flavor of these desserts.

Toasted Coconut (Latik)

  • ½ cup shredded coconut

  1. Pour shredded coconut in a frying pan on medium heat.

  2. Stir continuously until brown.

  3. Place in a container to cool.
